Rovers B-Team turned up eventually on a sunny Sunday morning at the zoo to play what turned out to be the Thalkirchen youth team. That basically meant that they ran us around the pitch.
1st Goal - Thalkirchen's Wimbledon impersonasion of hoofing the ball over the top of our defence and then letting there fast wingers have 1 on 1 with the keeper was quite effective, but they kept missing the goal. But then they sneaked one of them past Passarelli.
Athenstaedt bascially had 3 very good chances to score, 2 well placed free kicks from Meyer and Jarvis and another somehow.
They also had a handy number 10 (doesnt everyone) who was getting alot of the ball in midfield and threading the ball through to the fast strikers.
Rovers were mostly progressing down the right wing with Sach hoofing it down the line to Patton and Hennessy.
Singh who was marking their lightning fast number 9 then started to play a little more physical and nullified the threat. Unfortunately a reoccurring foot injury was aggravated and he had to come off. Aherne came on and Jarvis went to centre back along side Sharkey.
2nd Goal - Just before half time the Jugend team had sneaked a shot in the far post from a tight angle when Passarelli was unsighted. Pods.
Half Time - Manager Bracken tried to change things round a little after half of the team wanted to be substituted at half time due to fatigue. Hennessy eventually agreed to drop back to midfield, Sharkey (injured/knackerd?) went upfront and Athenstaedt came back into the defence.
The 2nd half felt like a post match drink out in the sticks, blackout. Thalkirchen had the run of the midfield and could sit infront of our defence and thread balls through where they wanted.
3rd Goal - Crappy scuffed shot from Number 9 after dancing round a few defenders.
4th Goal - Cant remember. Probably very easy and crap goal. Heads dropped, goal was too easy, walked through a number of players.
Rovers tried getting more physical with Patton and Hennessy leading the line, getting yellow cards for kicking number 10, but it had to be done. Jarvis escaped a yellow after trying to swap shirts during the game and after some nice wrestling with that number 10.
5th Goal - Ball wasnt cleared and then the player was brought down, their penalty was right in corner otherwise Passarelli would have had it.
Meyer through on goal after some skillful play tried to chip keeper but keeper saved, not the first time he should have smacked the ball. The keeper wasnt bad, he was punching some easily catchable balls, but was very quick and instinctive.
A cross to the back post left their keeper stranded and open goal missed by Sharkey with his head.
Late on Bishop came on for Sharkey and then went into defence.
6th Goal - Fast break from the opposition against only a few defenders enabled a pull back from out wide to be blasted in off the bar.
Quite a bad performance, need to get an early goal against the youngsters, as it often happens that younger but more skillful teams lose the plot. But after not taking our chances in the first half they ran riot in the 2nd.
Midfield was non existent, people were exhausted after 45 mins, then there was a period of no tackling which enabled them to dominate, not good enough. Thanks to Passarelli for taking some kicks, clearing some off the line and making a couple of nice saves. Sach, Hennessy and Meyer having composure on the ball and beating a few players.
